The 31-year-old suffered the problem during the early stages of the 2-1 win at Leeds on the opening day of the season. He battled on until half-time when he was replaced by Shaun Barker.
Anderson missed the Carling Cup first-round defeat at Crewe on Tuesday night and will not be fit until after the international break in September.He will miss the Championship games against Cardiff, Coventry and QPR."The injury stiffened up at half-time at Leeds but Russell wanted to give it a go in the second half, which shows what he is about," said manager Nigel Clough."Losing Russell is a blow because he is a steady performer and gives us options."
