Giles Barnes (20) is now fully fit after a loan spell with Premiership Fulham ended with an Achilles injury that required surgery.
Barnes underwent the Achilles operation in Sweden and now claims that he is near match fitness and hopes to resurrect the permanent transfer that was supposed to be part of the loan deal. Barnes was meant to sign for £2m following his season long loan spell but was returned to Pride Park after this latest injury.
Giles now insists that it would not be a gamble for Fulham to sign him and that his injury jinxes have now cleared up. Barnes said it is now “just a matter of the price” Rather than if I am fit. He went to assure Rams fans that he is at present still a Derby County player and would be happy to remain with the club should things not work out with the transfer.
No comment has yet been made from Pride Park but it is felt that offers around and above £2m will secure Barnes’ signature...
