Derby County have confirmed that injured teenager Giles Barnes will make a playing come back in a testimonial game set for the 6th September. The game is a testimonial for St Mirren Skipper Hugh Murray, who has given 11 seasons to the club. Shuggie, as he is known by the St Mirren Fans is 28.
Giles broke a bone in his foot playing for Derby in the Championship Play-off Final at Wembley. The injury failed to heal as quickly as was first thought but now Barnes is in training and will need a few games to re-gain match fitness after the lay-off.
It is not thought he will be fit enough to play in the Premiership game against Newcastle (which is live on Setanta, 8.00pm kick off) on Monday 17th September, although Giles and Billy Davies have surprised us before.
Rams fans will be hoping Giles can make a big impression on the Premiership and for Derby County when he returns.
