Rams midfielder Ben Davies has revealed hw he felt a great weight lift from hi shoulders following his wonder strike in last nights game against Leeds United. The goal was a stunning volley from the edge of the penalty area, leaving United Keeper Kasper Schmeichael no hope of stopping the bullet shot and Leeds hopes of winning the game.
Davies had previously started eleven games for the Rams without registering a goal. He was somewhat disappointed that his usual goal scoring from midfield hadn’t followed him down the A52 from Nott’s County.
Davies has been trying hard to improve the goal scoring part of his game with Rams manager Nigel Clough and Andy Garner, both of whom were overjoyed last night as Ben opened his Rams account.
Ben has said he knew as soon as the ball left his boot that it was heading for the net and was pleased to give the 28,000 crowd something to cheer about...
The 2-1 win over Leeds now sees the Rams eleven points clear of the relegation positions and almost certain to stay in the Championship next season. Good news for the Derby County owners, who hope this victory will see more season ticket holder re-new their seats for the 2011-1 season.
