He said: "I have had some very good phone calls (from other managers) and received some very good advice.
"The best advice I received was to keep doing what I have done, to keep believing in what I am doing.
"I will never change my beliefs or how I go about things or do my training."
Reflecting on reports regarding his future as the club, the Scot insisted he was fully focused on the task in hand.
He said: "As far as I'm concerned, I'm looking forward to the job I've got at Derby.
"I've got a three-year contract and I'm delighted to be here in the Premier League, I'm thoroughly enjoying this experience."
