The 31 year old has told Scotland manager Berti Vogts that he does not wish to be considered for International duty.
The announcement comes as a shock to the Scotland manager and Burley is to issue a statement as to his decision later this evening.
Craig Burley has played 46 times for his country and Berti Vogts has said “I accept and understand Craig’s situation at this stage of his career, as I realise he is recovering from long-term injury problems”.

Burley must now make a decision as to his career with the Rams. His contract is up for renewal and this comes at a time when Derby County are left without a manager following the sacking of John Gregory.
Craig was at the centre of allegations concerning his injury treatment prior to investigations at the club over what were called serious allegations and aimed at John Gregory.
