The Transfer merry-go-round is in full swing for the Rams and they have just confirmed the signing of Burton Albion’s 24 year-old defender Jake Buxton.
The deal will finally have pen put to paper next month when Buxton’s contract at Burton runs out. A one year incentive based contract has been offered to Jake, which he is eager to sign. The deal will also have an option for a further years extension to the contract.
Buxton was very pleased to be playing for Nigel Clough again, adding, “it is a dream come true”. Buxton is expected to go into the first team squad on the players return to training on July 1st.
Another Rams target John Brayford, from League two Crewe is proving more difficult to capture. The 21 year-old defender who also played for Clough at Burton is saying that no approach has yet been made for him by Derby and until a formal bid has been received he is pledging himself to Crewe.
Brayford is the current player of the year at Crewe and also has admirers from at least two other Championship sides and added that “this is all just speculation at the moment”...
