The latest offence occurred whilst Charles was completing a nine month suspended sentence and 100 hours of Community work.Charles had completed the community service work but was warned that any more offences whilst the suspended sentence was in force would see him go straight to jail. Judge Andrew Hamilton had no alternative but to jail Charles for 12 months, after failing to comply with the original nine month suspended sentence handed out for the attack on the woman. This latest offence was the final straw following several other incidents over the last few years and Judge Hamilton said in summing up "There really does come a time when the police and everyone else has to have a rest from Gary Charles. I hope it knocks some sense into his head."
