A strange position for Clough to be looking at after his side could not muster a recognised all out striker for the Coventry defeat , despite having Luke Varney twiddling his thumbs.
Varney, one of the only fit strikers at the club seems to have been left out of the squad to avoid injury whilst protracted negotiations to loan out the 28 year-old take place.
It is widely thought QPR are likely to make a move for Varney on a season long loan before the transfer window closes next week. If those negotiations fail Charlton Athletic have also been liked with a loan deal for Varney.
