Darius Vassell in line for a move to Derby
Billy Davies is looking at former England Striker Darius Vassell to be his next signing for the Rams. Twenty seven year-old Vassell has slipped down the order during his two year spell with Manchester City and is now not even considered for the Subs bench after the arrival of Sven Goran Eriksson at City. This is somewhat surprising as Sven gave Vassell his England debut and picked him on 22 occasions for England, where the striker scored 6 goals for his Country.

Vassell was played mainly as a wide midfielder at Manchester City, a role that hasn't done the striker any favours after his £2million move from Aston Villa, scoring only 15 goals in his 77 games for the club.

If Billy Davies wants to take Vassell to Pride Park he may be asked for around £1.5m. City have already rejected a £1m advance from a Turkish club for his services. Vassell would welcome a chance to prove himself again in a position that suits him and with Steve Howard and Rob Earnshaw as his striking partners a move may well benefit all sides.
