Middlesbrough have announced that Malcolm Christie is having talks with Nottingham Forest with a view to a move to the City Ground.

Christie was a crowd favourite at Pride Park before his £3m move along with Chris Riggott in January 2003 to Middlesbrough.

Bad luck followed Christie and two broken legs limited his appearances for Middlesbrough. His tally of 7 league goals came from just 27 league games for the club and at 28 Christie is looking to resurrect his career with Notts Forest in the First division.

Christie had been talked of as a partner for Steve Howard but it is thought susceptability to injury ruled him out for a return to Pride Park and the Premiership.
