Derby County cruised into the 5th Round of the FA Cup after going two goals down at the City Ground, home of Nottingham Forest.

The Rams were devastated by a rampant Forest side and within 15 minutes found themselves two goals down and heading out of the competition and missing out on a half a million pound 5th round tie against Manchester United.

Rob Hulse began the Rams comeback with a fine headed goal after good work from Gary Teale and a pin-point cross.

Kris Commons
Commons a life long Forest fan sends the Rams rivals out of this years FA Cup competition
Derby hadn't won at the City Ground since 1971 and they still had all on to turn the game around and force extra time but whatever new Rams boss and former Forest star Nigel Clough said to his Derby team at half time seemed to work as the Rams continued to work hard and eventually levelled the scores again from a headed goal, this time from Rams midfield dynamo Green.

From levelling the score it looked like the Rams would be the eventual winners but Forest kept on fighting. Kris Commons made himself the most unpopular man in Nottingham in the 74th minute when he his deflected shot looped over the Forest keeper and into the net. The script had now been completed as Commons, a life long Forest fan scored what turned out to be the winner, even though Forest hit a post in the intervening 16 minutes of play. Fans from both sides were left to bite their nails as the referee added five minutes stoppage time to the game but the Rams emerged as the deserved winners on the night.
