Gregory facing fine and ban

John Gregory appears to be heading for trouble with the FA disciplinary board again after an outburst to the fourth official during the game on Saturday.

Gregory has said that he “thought the fourth official was over-zealous in his role”. Never leaving the Rams manager alone and speaking to him in a manner more befitting of a schoolteacher talking to a naughty boy.

Apparently Gregory and other officials on the Derby County bench were told to sit down and after a while John Gregory told the fourth official that he was being unfair as the Portsmouth bench were also standing but nothing was said to them.

Referee Clive Penton came over to the Rams bench around the hour mark and after consulting his colleague (the fourth official) he sent Gregory to the stands.

Gregory could face another hefty fine and touch-line ban after latest incident with officials
It is not yet clear if Gregory will have to face the FA over the incident but his track record with incidents of this kind will not help him. John had to face the FA on three separate occasions whilst with Aston Villa and this will be his second time in just over a year that the Rams manager has been in trouble with officials.

His last visit to the FA headquarters cost Gregory £5,000 in fines for improper conduct and abusive language and was warned of his future conduct. Although not thought to be as serious as his previous case John Gregory will clearly face a touch-line ban if the FA are involved.
