Speculation on the departure of Will Hughes has been going on for quite a while but it was confirmed yesterday that he will now be going to the Premiership with Watford.
The Premiership new boys have snapped up Hughes for a bargain £5m but the deal could be worth up to £9m with add-ons. Tthere is also a 15% sell on clause negotiated in the deal.
Hughes will have a medical on his return from England U21 duty at the U21 European Championships and put pen to paper on a five year deal with the Hornets.
Speaking about the deal Hughes said it was a difficult decision but thought the time was right to move on. He thanks everyone at Derby County for their help and guidance during his time at Derby. He also thanks the many fans of the Rams for their support.
Derby County now have the unenviable task of finding a creative midfielder to replace Hughes for the coming season, one that Hughes himself hoped would end in promotion for the Rams.
