Well it was a very long time ago that Derby County were last in the relegation zone of the Championship. In fact it was ten years ago nearly to the day that a defeat saw the Rams slip to 23rd place in the Championship.
There was despair and dread at that time but a wee Scottish lad by the name of Billy Davies was in charge then. He gavanised the squad and a steady run saw the Rams finish third and secure a play-off place.
The semi final against Southampton was a classic in front of 30,602 at the Ipro, or as it was them Pride Park Stadium. Very few people game the Rams any hope of overcoming Westbromwich Albion at Wembley but the Rams triumphed and went into the Premiership for the second time in their history.
Well is going into the relegation zone an omen, your guess is as good as mine, or are we just clutching at straws after the entire squad seem to have imploded under the stewardship of Nigel Pearson.
Well, fingers crossed for a Rams revival and a victory down in the valleys of Wales as Derby County travel to Cardiff tonight.
