The protracted talks that threatened to take Rams manager Steve McClaren to Newcastle now seem to be at an end and McClaren is to stay with Derby County.
The 54 year-old has told the Derby Evening telegraph that he wants to stay with Derby County and has turned down the chance to move to Premiership Newcastle. Newcastle were said to have approached McClaren last weekend, wanting him to rescue the Magpies in their final games of the season. Newcastle currently stand just two above the relegation zone in the Premiership.
McClaren is now hoping to start transfer talks with players he wants in his squad next season. A clear indication that he wants to take Derby County to promotion that has cruelly been denied in the last two seasons...
