Eighteen year-old Rams defender Mark O'Brien has been given a new four year contract after his excellent work in the centre of the Rams defence this season.
O'Brien came into the Rams side after injuries to several Derby County squad members and the recouperation of Rams captain Shaun Barker. He has fitted in well with summer signing Jason Shackell at the heart of the Rams defense and has played in all six of the Championship games played so far, making the starting line-up on five occasions.
Mark only turned professional in the summer and has had a rapid rise to fame after having heart surgery and having a replacement valve fitted.
