Philips has failed to negotiate a new contract with the Premiership new boys and it is rumoured that he would be offered a two year deal at Pride Park. With Philips having his 35 birthday on July 25th, this could see Derby with a 37 year old striker at the end of any propossed deal.
It is without question that Philips has been one of the best strikers of his generation, scoring 115 goals in just 209 games when at Sunderland and his scoring ability was again in evidence during his time with West Brom, this time scoring 38 goals in just 71 games for the Baggies.
We now wait to see if the Brummie post is correct in its reporting but it would seem to be a great signing for the Rams if it comes off....
