Congratulations to Leicester City and Burnley on being promoted to the Premier League this season, but the big question is can the Rams follow them up?
Derby County’s manager, Steve McClaren, has said the team must be more ruthless in their approach if they are to succeed in the play-offs. The Rams can hold possesion as good as anyone in the division, but it is turning that possesion into goals that counts, especially in a three game knock-out cup, which the play-off's essentially are.
The financial implications of winning the play-off final at Wembley stadium are immense. The purse for the winners has been calculated at over £90 million and with the Rams now in a far better financial situation than their last promotional season would that kind of money see the Rams invest and hopefully stay in the Premiership?.
The pressure on managers and player alike must be unbearable at these times, but if Derby County play to their capabilities there is no reason why they can’t win the three game play-offs, they have the squad and now mangerial staff to make this a very succesful season.
A point this weekend will be enough to ensure the Rams finish the league in third place, not always a lucky omen but ensuring that Derby County do have the home advantage in the second leg of the play-off semi-finals. COME ON YOU RAMS..!!!
