One time rising Derby star Gary Twig is reportedly on the verge of quitting the professional game.
The ex-Ram had been released by the club at the end of last season and amongst the options he pursued was a trial with American soccer outfit Dallas Burn current home of Simo Valakari.
Twigg had been a prospect of genuine promise while at derby scoring 27 goals at all levels below that of the first team in one season, but he was to an extent hampered by the mercurial speed of his progress.
While his contemporaries agewise were being tutored out of the spotlight and helped improve techniques Twig trained with the seniors but was rarely included in the starting line up.
He ended the campaign out on loan and according to sources in Dallas appeared to have lost his passion and desire for the game, even claiming that he was so disenchanted that he proposed to pack in playing altogether.
