Adam Pearson welcomes Paul Jewell
Adam Pearson welcomes Paul Jewell to Derby County but will the final fairwell handshack be just a few defeats away?
Derby County continue the worst run of their history with yet another home defeat. Southampton gained their revenge for their Championship Play-off semi final defeat by the Rams in some style.

The Saints had several players in the team yesterday who were under the age of 23 and all the experience of the Derby side was never a match for the young enthusiastic Southampton side.

Derby Fans, famed last season for their undying loyalty to the club and the team, despite heavy and sustained defeats during the Premiership season are starting to wonder if Paul Jewell is the man to lead them back to the promised land or if his excuses and talents as a manager have just dried up.

Paul Jewell
Has Paul Jewell given the Rams 100% and is he up to the job after failing to register a win in 35 games whilst in charge of the Rams?
Tuesday night may be a turning point or Jewell's nemesis . The 4-1 home defeat by Preston, Tuesday's hosts in the Carling Cup, wasn't widely unexpected but the three goal deficit at home to a team struggling a division below the Rams was hard for many to take.

Rumours of Jewell having just three more games to register a win before he is ousted from the club are rife around Rams fans message boards and general chat but will the new American owners be prepared to just throw away some their investment in Jewell, who has brought over 20 players to the club since he took over last year. To pay up his lucrative contract would mean the directors paying a huge fee and the club would be again manager less and with a full squad of players brought in by the previous manager.

It really is now becoming a catch 22 situation for the club but efforts have to be made to stem the flow of defeats and lack lustre performances before the Rams find themselves in a position that Leeds United and now Leicester found themselves.

All eyes will be on Deep Dale this Tuesday, we just hope they don't end up crying at the end of the evening.
