Derby County will do a lap of apprciation after today's game against Wolverhampton Wanderers. The game is the last one at Pride Park for the Rams and players will go around the pitch following the final whistle.
Rams manager Gary Rowett asked the players if they wanted to do this and they all said yes, in apprciation of the support that the fans have given over what has been a difficult and roller coaster season.
Fans are being asked not to encroach onto the playing surface during the lap of the pitch.
Derby County have failed to live up to early expectation during the season, which has seen four managers at the helm, including caretaker manager Chris Powell. The Rams had expected a minimum of a play-off place but poor early season form, follwed by a resurgence during the second spell as manager of Steve McClaren, followed by a rapid decline in form saw them fall down the table. Derby County are now 13 points off the play-off places and that has to be seen as failure for the talented squad at Pride Park.
Fans will now hope that a period of assesment and re-building of the squad will take place during the closed season and Derby County will emerge as promotion hopefuls during the 2017-18 season.
