An undisclosed fee, rumoured to be £400,000 has been rejected by Blackpool for their talented defender and player of the year Shaun Barker.
Barker has a year left to run on his present contract and is beleived to be happy to stay with the Tangerines and the Rams are not at present interested in upping their offer an will wait to see if other clubs come in for Barker.
The Rams had earmarked Barker as one of the players they would have liked to re-build the Derby Defensive unit, which struggled with loss of form and injury last season and was one of the main reasons the Rams finished nearer relegation than promotion.
Nigel Clough will continue his search and negotiations with various other targets in his quest to bring in around six new faces before the start of the 2009-2010 season....
