The Rams were beaten by two goals to nil by Dutch Earste Divisie (2nd division) side Top OSS. The result may be disappointing to the Rams manager, Paul Jewell, as his new side was expected to win this encounter.
Top OSS only managed 8th place last season and play in a ground with a capacity of only 4.650, not as big as many local non league sides here in Derbyshire. However the Dutch played well and fully deserved their win.
Jewell played several of his new recruits including Martin Albrechtsen, Jordan Stewart and Nathen Ellington. The Rams were already 1-0 down at the break following the home sides first goal on the 40th minute mark. The Rams found themselves 2-0 down just before the hour mark, this after Jewell had made six substitutions at the break.
Not an impressive start to the Championship build up but the team needs to gel and the more games they have the better they should get to know one another. The game was after all only a friendly but how many more defeats will the supporters stand?..
