Derby County's next opponents could have been without their star striker had a German court had its way.

Youri Djorkaeff has been let off a prison sentence in German but only after he has been forced to part with £45,000. The ex Kaiserslautern player crashed his luxury Mercedes car in September of last year whilst still playing for the German club.

The Bolton Striker was originally only fined £500 for the incident but after failing to pay the fine a warrant was issued for his arrest.

Djorkaeff has said, "The fine didn't arrive in my letter box. Maybe someone stole it".

Good news for Djorkaeff then (if you call a £45,000 fine, good news) but not so good for the Rams defence who face the World Cup winner at the Reebok Stadium on Saturday 16th March. The match will be a six pointer and have a huge bearing on the relegation battle.
