We asked you last week what your reaction was to the statement given out by Rams CEO, Tom Glick. His statement of intent to provide the supporters of Derby County with a squad capable of taking the Rams into the top six of the Championship or you money back to season ticket holders who buy before the season starts.
It appears from those comments received in the form we issued that opinion is still divided on the American and Canadian owners of the club. We have listed below a selection of the kind of replies we have had at Derby County Mad:
1...the championship is a close division, we have been slowly building a side for the last couple of years, however at the moment we lack a bit of experience and certainly a bit of guile, with 3/4 quality players brought into the team and confidence regained in pre season for the rest of the young players then we have a good chance, we also have young players like Hendricks ball and Obrien who will hopefully be knocking at the door next year. Let’s just hope the board are not putting down some spin again and are true to there words.
2...Unfortunately, given broken promises over the last two seasons, my belief that the board have the best interests of the club at heart has been destroyed.
3...I have been a season ticket holder since 1976, I will renew again this year because of the price freeze, I can just about afford the cat D price for my lad and myself (£358). The worry is the following season 2012-2013 because there will be no cat D and the promise of a price increase. £500+ there is no chance; I will be priced out for the first time in 36 years!
4...I've heard it all before!!
5... I think that it all depends on who them signings are
6... The offer to refund season tickets seems a gimmick to me, but surely the Club are savvy enough to understand that if they don’t deliver on their promises this time then there will be massive protests from fans? So I am cautiously optimistic that there will be some action this summer.
7... Can we attract the right calibre of player though????????? I am not sure, I am away a lot and the 200 mile round trip is a long old journey to watch sub standard footie!
8... I have seen nothing to change my mind since then and the recent debates on the message boards are the same issues that I had to consider when making up my mind last year.
9...I am no longer a Clough fan and think he would waste any money given to him. Talk is cheap. I want to see actions from the board now. I did not believe them last season when they claimed "Barker type signings" were on the way so why should I now? Nothing has changed as far as I am concerned and another year has been wasted.
10... Tom Glick and GSE are not to be trusted; they do not understand English football. The only way to voice my opinion is to not renew. We need local ownership not Americans they are ruining our club.
They have sold our two top goal scorers in the last two windows. We may still go down because of penny pinching GSE.
11... Was always going to renew anyway. What else would I do on a Saturday afternoon? Defo not shopping! Derby till I die!!!!
