Derby County Ladies added to their Midland Combination league title with a win in the Midlands Combination league Cup.
The score line against Copsewood from the Coventry area was a close 4-3. The Rams had dominated the game with goals from Lorna Abbey and Becki Bryan and had a deserved 2-0 lead at the half way point. A further goal from Lauren Steadman had the Rams three goals ahead.
A spirited fight back from Copsewood during the second half brought the score to 3-2, but the Derby Ladies forged ahead yet again with just nine minutes on the clock and the game looked over at 4-2. Copsewood however refused to lay down and a goal minutes later had the crowd at Leicester FA Holmes Park ground on the edge of their seats until the final whistle.
The Cup win gives Derby Ladies the Double in the Ladies Midland Combination League and is a reward for hard work during the season. The ladies now have a chance of a treble when they take on West Brom Ladies next Wednesday 20th May in the Midland Combination Reserve League Cup...
