Rams legend Dave Mackay was taken ill on Saturday whilst on route to watch Spurs play Blackburn Rovers at Ewood Park. The 75 year old legend was thought to have suffered a heart attack. There is no news as yet to his condition but fans from Hearts, Tottenham and Derby County send their best wishes for a speedy recovery. Mackay who has a lounge named after him at Pride Park is one of the all time greats in British football, being part of the 1961 Spurs side that won the League Championship and FA Cup double. Mackay also won two further FA Cup medals whilst at Spurs, along with the UEFA Cup in 1963. His Derby County career included the second division Championship win in 1968-69 season. This was his only honour whilst playing for the Rams but he lead the team as manager to its second First Division (now Premiership) title in 1974-75 season Mackay started his football career in Scotland and whilst playing for ironically named Hearts, won the Scottish Cup in 1956 and the League Cup north of the border in 1955 and 59. His English football career centred around Tottenham Hotspur, with who he won three FA Cups in 1961, 62 and 1967. Surprisingly for such a successful player Mackay only played 22 times for Scotland scoring four times for his Country. Having recently experienced a family member suffer a heart attack I know just how harrowing a time this must be for the loved ones of Dave. All our best wishes for a speedy recover go to him from all at Derby County Mad...
