Derby County may have put 15 goals in the Carlisle net last evening but all bar one came in the penalty shoot out, that the Rams won 14-13. With this in mind and the lack of firepower up front it comes as no surprise that Derby County are rumoured to be looking at former Arsenal striker Nicklas Bendtner.
The 28 year-old, six feet four and a half inch former Arsenal goalscorer is a free agent this summer after being released by Wolfsburg in the Bundesliga. The Danish International striker, has had disciplinary problems this season at Wolfsburg including turning up to a game in a rival German car, other than the VW model that are the sponsors of Wolfsburg, turning up to training 45 minutes late and other minor problems.
Bendtner has huge experience in European and International football. He has played for Arsenal at European level and at a World Cup for Denmark. He has played 72 times for his native Denmark and scoring an impressive 29 goals.
He joined Arsenal in 2005 and played 108 times, scoring 24 goals. He also had his fair share of loan moves whilst in North London, moving to Birmingham City in 2006 on loan, playing 42 times and scoring 11 goals. He then had a spell at Sunderland in 2011, playing 28 games and scoring 8 goals. He moved to Juventus, again on loan in 2012 playing just 9 games for the Italian side and failing to hit the back of the net.
Bendtner moved on a permanent basis to Wolfsburg his last team in 2014, playing just 31 times and scoring 3 goals.
No reaction to the speculation as yet from within Derby County.
