Adam-Legzdins

Derby County are dipping into the transfer market yet again and returning to Nigel Clough’s old stomping ground to try and tempt them to sell goalkeeper Adam Legzdins.

The surprise move for the 24 year-old comes after the Rams have already secured Frank Fielding as their number one for next season.

Legzins only moved to the Brewers last summer, moving from Crewe. He went on to establish himself in the league two side and was vote as the fans and fellow players, player of the year.

Paul Peschisolido has stated that he is very reluctant to think about parting with his star player after just one season but accepts it is a big move for Legzdins and would not want to stand in his way. He is however not going to sell the keeper for less than what he values him at. No fee has yet been agreed, but is expected to be hammered out during the next week or so. Legzins has another year to run of his current contract at Burton.

No surprisingly, with a name like Legzdins, Adam is qualified to play International football for Latvia via his parents. Adam was born in Staffordshire.

No news as yet on the future prospects of another former Burton Keeper, Saul Deeney and last season’s number one keeper, Stephen Bywater, who moved on loan to Premiership chasing Cardiff City..
