Rams playing the field for new keeper

Last updated : 21 July 2009 By transfer mad reporter

frank fieldingDerby County are continuing to search for a substitute goalkeeper for the coming season and are looking to Blackburn Rovers U21 International Frank Fielding to fill the role.

Fielding is a 21 year-old who is struggling to get a game at Premiership Blackburn and has recently been out on loan to Rochdale during last season, making 25 appearances for then. He was also loaned out in 2008 to Northampton, where he made a dozen appearances and played the majority of the season in 2007-08 with Wycombe Wanderers, playing 36 times.

Nigel Clough is hoping Sam Allardyce will allow the talented youngster to join the Rams as back-up to Stephen Bywater. This will allow the Rams to let veteran keeper Roy Carroll go. The Rams have let there talented Welsh International keeper Lewis Price go out for a season long loan at Brentford. The decision is to allow Price to get valuable first team experience under his belt rather than wait for an opportunity at Pride Park to occur....
