Rams pull out of Bodde deal

Ferrie Bodde too expensive at the £2m asking price
After hard negotiation over several weeks Derby County have finally admitted defeat in trying to bring Dutch mifielder Ferrie Bodde to Pride Park.

The Rams had tabled two bids, the opening bid of £500,000 was said to have been laughable by the Welsh side. Derby however were keen to sign Bodde and upped the offer to £750,000. This again was rejected.

One possible reason for the refusal and estimated price of £2m was the fact that Bodde had a 50% sell on clause from his former club in Holland written into his contract. Swansea were looking to make good money on their initial £50,000 buy but with such a high sell on fee it was obvious that Derby would need to raise their offer to around the £1.5m mark to prise Bodde away.
