The Rams came away empty handed again after a second, improved offer for Johnny Russell. Tthe 23 year old was the subject of an original offer, said to be of around £650,000 which Dundee United waved away.
Russell has been the subject of interest from other Championship clubs and one Italian team, so Derby County went in with a higher offer, thought to be around £750,000, but again the powers that be at Dundee United have rejected the offer.
Dundee are believed to be wanting to make money out of the young striker and his contract comes to an end at the end of next season, so a sale is pending. However with several clubs known to be tracking Russell Dundee United may be turning any sale into an auction.
Whether the Rams have the resolve, ambition or cash to chase Russell is unknown but may potentially point to the strength of their ambition in the coming season...
