It’s no go for Lee Camp as the Rams confirm that they have received and rejected a formal bid from Queen’s Park Rangers for the young keeper.
As reported here Ian Holloway was reported by sources in the south as having a strong interest in the player that had served so well while on loan at Loftus Road during the closing stages of last season.
Camp was sent out initially to gain first team experience as he was third in the pecking order for a first team jersey at the time.
He performed so well, however, that Rangers immediately admitted that they would be keen to sign the shot stopper if he became available.
There is little doubt that should he retain his current rate of progress that the future is bright for him, but with Andy Oakes already told that he is surplus to requirements and to look for another club Camp’s prospects look good at Pride Park.
All players have their price, though, and with the club in financial trouble there was a fear that any reasonable offer would be snapped up.
According to the official website, however: - Director of Football Murdo Mackay is quoted as saying: - "After speaking to George Burley I recommended to the board that we reject the offer,"
"The bid doesn't meet our valuation of the player. In addition the timing is difficult because our new goalkeeping coach Mal Webster - who we believe is one of the best in the country - has only had a couple of weeks to assess the ability of our three main keepers."
