Rams strengthen defence with 'HE MAN'

Derby County have signed their 8th player since the finish of last season. The player this time is West Bromwich Albion defender Martin Albrechtsen, a Danish International.

The 6ft 1 inch Dane has signed a three year deal for the Rams, which will keep him at the club until he is 31 years of age. Martin already has a nickname of He Man, or Dolph. Both names refer to his striking resemblance to Dolph Lundgren, who played He Man in the film version of the stories.

Martin has been with West Brom since 2004 and comes to the Rams on a free transfer, which belays the statement from Rams Chairman of football Adam Pearson that Derby would be bringing in three more" big money signings" before the start of the season.

The Rams seriously need strength in depth, especially in the defensive areas after the season horribilis in the Premiership last season. And hope the acquisition of Albrechtsen will strengthen that defence. Martin can play in a variety of defensive positions, including both left and right back, although it is thought his primary role will be in the centre of defence...
