A large crowd of over 20,000 saw Derby County take their first trophy of the new season in the shape of the Brian Clough Trophy.

Goals from Jay McEverley after just six minutes set the tone of the match, and a well taken goal from Craig Fagan sealed the game for Derby after just 16 minutes had past.

Chances for both sides in an entertaining first period but it was Derby who came in at Half Time with a 2-0 lead.

The match became one way traffic with the Ram having the upper hand for large periods of the second half but for all their dominence they could not add to their brace of the first period.

So with the bragging rights firmly with Rams supporters and the Cup in the trophy cabinet, things look good for Derby as the Premiership season appears on the horizon.
