Giles Barnes to miss three games if appeal against red card fails
Derby County are set to appeal against Teenager Giles Barnes sending off against Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday.

The Young midfielder come striker had only been on the pitch for 20 minutes after replacing injured Ryan Smith. His enthusiasm to get the ball was the excuse given by Rams boss Billy Davies, “He is enthusiastic rather than nasty” Davies remarked.

If the appeal fails Barnes faces a three match ban for the straight red card which will see him miss Saturday's home game against Southend and the away games at Plymouth and Queens Park Rangers.

Saturday's game was also a colourful affair for several other Rams players, with Michael Johnson, Leacock, Peschisolido, Camara, Grant and Smith all being shown the yellow card by referee Kevin Wright.

Derby will need to slow down the rate of bookings and sendings off if they are to avoid disciplinary action by the FA. Barnes sending of followed Wednesday's dismissal of on loan Arsenal striker Arturo Lupoli during the Rams Carling Cup clash with Doncaster.
