Derby County are hoping to add Arsenal youngster Gilles Sunu to their squad on loan for the rest of the present season. Discussions with Arsenal are at an advanced stage and a decision on the French U19 striker may be made before Saturday's FA Cup game against Birmingham City. Sunu was born in Togo but is a French U19 International, playing for France at U17, U18 and presently U19 level. He has made 23 appearances in all for France, scoring on four occasions. Gilles has only made two first team appearances for Arsenal, both in Cup matches since his move from LB Chateauroux. His debut for the Gunners came in the Carling Cup against WBA last September. A good pedigree is always important when loaning players and Sunu has just that. His father was also an International footballer, playing for his native Togo. Nigel Clough hopes to have the young striker signed up before Saturday, which may indicate he could play a part in the FA Cup game.
