This time the Clough in question is Nigel Clough, son of the legendary Brian. The rumours are starting as current manager John Gregory is suspended by the club and is under investigation on a “serious matter”.
Nigel (37) has had a varied and very successful career to day and he is still signed on at Burton Albion were he takes the number 20 shirt and is of course player manager.
In his league career Nigel played for Notts Forest before a £2,750,000 move to Liverpool and a further £1.5million move to Manchester City in 1996. He also had spells at Sheffield Wednesday.
After his league career was over Clough took over at Burton Albion and again has had success as a manager. If Nigel does get his move into league management with the Rams, we all hope he has as much, if not more, success that his illustrious father some 30 years ago.
