Rangers have raised the price for away fans by £10 and are now asking Rams fans to pay £40 to watch the game. The clubs in the Championship submit their ticket prices to the FA at the start of each season and only if both clubs agree with any increase will that price be altered. Derby County are clearly not happy with the price rise for their fans and it is now up to the FA to adjudicate on the matter. A decision is likely by the weekend.
QPR fans are also outraged at the sudden rise in ticket prices, many who use the top seats now face paying £50 to follow Rangers at home.
Meanwhile the delay in ticket prices is causing problems for those Derby County fans who would like to attend the game. Tickets are usually sent out up to three weeks in advance, allowing plenty of time for fans to organise travel and if necessary accommodation. Fans now face just 7 days or less to make arrangements.
Supporters groups are not happy with the delay but Derby County have said they have a contingency plan if things aren't sorted soon.
Officials at QPR, who have recently take over the club have stated that they intend to get their team into the Premiership and needed to put the price of tickets up to attain this and to maintain the club on a firm financial footing……….It may surprise these people but that is the intent of all the Championship sides but they don't go raising the bar, so to speak, to attain it.
Hopefully the FA will see sense and not allow this club to get away with what amounts to highway robbery and makes them wait to raise their ticket prices next season, when fans will stay away from Loftus Road in their droves!...
