Forest took an early lead with a goal from Mikael Antoine-Curier in the 12th minute. However the Rams came back strongly and in the 35th minute Izale McLeod scored his first goal for the Rams reserves. Mcleod doubled his tally for the reserves just two minutes later as he headed a cross from Adam Murray past the helpless Roche in the Forest goal.
The Rams kept the lead until 16 minutes before the end of the match. Jay Birch, a substitution for the Reds pulling the visitors level with a shot from the edge of the area.
The game looked like ending in a draw as the clock showed the 90 minutes were up. Forest had other ideas as a free kick was floated into the penalty area and Antoine-Curier rose to head his second goal of the game and take home the three points.
