Derby County after 6 seasons in the Premiership are relegated

Michael Owen
Double strike by Owen calls time on the Rams time in the Premiership
An uneventful match in many respects sees Derby Plunge into the Nationwide division one. Two goals by Michael Owen proved to be the final nail in the relegation coffin.

The first goal came in the 17th minute; Owen beat Rob Lee on the penalty area and rifled his shot past Andy Oakes.

Derby spurned a great chance to equalise in the 85th minute as Dudek dropped a shot but Christie failed to react quickly enough to the chance and his half hit shot was collected by Dudek.

Another late goal secured the win for Liverpool and condemn the Rams to the drop. Again it was Michael Owen who's speed left Derby defenders in his wake. As Oakes came out of his goal to narrow the angle Owen just skipped past him and scored from a narrow angle.

Well that's it folks! We now have to look toward next season and hopefully a swift return to the top flight.
