Wigan failed to take advantage of Ipswich's earlier slip up as they crashed to their second defeat in five days at the hands of improving Derby County at the JJB Stadium.

Victory against the Rams would have taken Paul Jewell's outfit back to the top of the Championship and despite getting off to the best possible start with a superb goal from striker Jason Roberts they could not withstand the heat for the second-half Derby comeback.

Roberts gave his side the lead after half-an-hour when he picked up a superb throughball from David Graham before slotting his shot past Camp in the Derby goal.

The home side almost added a second when Nathan Ellington saw his shot blocked and Jimmy Bullard kicked the rebound wide from two yards but the second half was a different story.

The Rams equalised when Grzegorz Rasiak fired home from just inside the area after Wigan keeper John Filan had made a tremendous save from the same player.

And Derby's comeback was complete with nine minutes left when substitute Tommy Smith sent a glancing header past Filan following a superb run and cross from Morten Bisgaard.
